In my conversation with Dr. Amanda Carpenter from CORErgonomic Solutions the other day she stressed how important it is to support our body in pursuit of building efficiency and longevity for physical performance.
We had talked about the wonderful opportunities production arborists have at their disposal just by the nature of the work and the physical demands-or opportunities-it provides us as industrial athletes. Arboriculture is a wonderful platform to maintain health and wellness.
We can essentially find almost all of our exercise relatively easily in the work place, and in the setting of nature which is all the better.
I recently came across this interview with Joe Rogan and Firas Zahabi in which their conversation focuses on consistency in training rather than intensity. I found these concepts from the interview to be very interesting in the sense of stressing the body less while benefitting more overall by increasing volume that the body can actually support. This theme resonates with some of the topics Dr. Carpenter and I discussed. In some ways this clip relates to the production arborist and how we get our dosages of physical activity in terms of intensity and enjoyment.
Working smarter can have massive benefits for not only our longevity, but our attitude to our job tasks as production arborists and climbers. Working smarter, in this sense, allows us to work longer and have more fun.
